our hosts, Alyson and Nick!

Alyson: “There are 80 videos to go until we reach number
one, plus today we got our very special performance from one of Indonesia’s
favorite artist, Raisa!”
Nick: “As well as the People’s Choice Asia-Pacific Act
nominee, Yuna from Malaysia!”
Alyson: “Plus we’re having our very special tribute of the
year, which we will speak about the artist right after the number 80 and a live
performance from Yuna.”
Nick: “Ladies and gentlemen, number 80 is… Labrinth

Nick: “Ladies and gentlemen, our tribute of the year goes to
one of the best female R&B artists of all time, she had sold over 170
million albums, singles, and videos worldwide. She also influenced several
African American female artist. She had several number one hits. Ladies and
gentlemen, our tribute of the year goes to… Whitney Houston.”
Alyson: “Whitney Houston was born in Newark, New Jersey, on
August 9, 1963, she started performing as a solo artist at the age of 11 in the
junior gospel choir at the New Hope Baptist Church. When she was a teenager,
she attended Mount Saint Dominic Academy, a Catholic girls’ high school in
Carlwell, New Jersey, but her mother continued to teach her how to sing.”
Nick: “In early 1980s, Houston appeared in Seventeen
magazine and became one of the first women of color to grace the cover of the
magazine. She was also featured on Cosmopolitan magazine.”
Alyson: “She had released several number one singles from
her debut album, including How Will I
Know and Greatest Love of All.
She had also Grammys, AMAs, and MTV VMA.”

Alyson: “After the success of her self-titled debut album,
her sophomore album, Whitney, reached
number one on Billboard 200, which made her becoming the first ever female
artist to debut at the top spot on Billboard 200 in music history. The first
single, I Wanna Dance With Somebody
became worldwide hit.”
Nick: “In 1992, Houston got her first movie role in The Bodyguard, released in 1992, which
Kevin Costner also co-starred, the film was hugely successful at the box
office, grossing $410 million worldwide. The film soundtrack also met with huge
success, including the lead single which was sung by Houston, I Will Always Love You, breaking several
chart records and was certified 4x platinum by the RIAA, making her the first
female artist with a single to reach that level in history and becoming one of
the best-selling singles of all time with 12 million copies sold.”
Alyson: “Thanks to The
Bodyguard, she won three Grammys, eleven Billboard Music Awards, 5 World
Music Awards, and a BRIT Awards.”

Nick: “In September 2011, Houston shot her last film role, Sparkle, which was released on August
17, 2012. However on February 11, 2012, Houston was found unconscious in suite
434 at the Beverly Hilton Holtel, where she was announced dead. The Grammy
Awards immediately gave her a tribute which was the Grammys’ second highest
rated telecast. Whitney Houston, you have wonderful voice, and have done such a
great job, we will always love you. Ladies and gentlemen, we present you her
signature song, I Will Always Love You.
